Choosing personality over character?

Choosing personality over character?

As a leader it is important to understand the difference between personality and character.

The distinction is this:
Personality refers to our basic nature, to how we are born. There are people who are more extroverted and there are some more introverted. Some of us are even-tempered, some are hotheaded. Our personality consists of those things that we inherit genetically.

What is character?
Character refers to how we choose to use our inheritance to make our way in the world. Our character is built over time. It shows up in the decisions we make and it comes from living, learning and making mistakes.

There are many situations where our character is tested in life. Where we have to prove ourselves.
In a crisis, in problems or in temptations our character is tested so often and our true character revealed.

As a leader, with personality you will get through the door, character will ensure you stay there.

When you choose your friends, don’t be short-changed by choosing personality over character.
